On the final day of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 (LFW) Assam designer Sanjukta Dutta has showcased her new collection “Abor” at the LFW runway. The Fashion week has started on August 22 in Mumbai.
Dream girl of Indian silver screen Hema Malini and her daughter Esha Deol Takhtani walked the ramp at LFW Winter-Festive 2018 as showstoppers for designer Sanjukta Dutta’s latest collection ‘Abor’.
Before the show, Esha Deol said “Both me and my mom are very excited to support them by wearing the beautiful creations designed by Sanjukta and handcrafted by the women weavers of Assam”.
The models walked on the ramp with the tunes of many popular Assamese songs including Bhupen Hazarika’s immortal song Gupute Gupute.
Dutta’s new collection ‘Abor’ has been dedicated to the strong and determined women weavers of Assam. Comprising of ethnic and Indo-western wear, the line boasts of a mélange of styles and silhouettes, including her signature makhela chadors, saris, lehengas, skirts, crop tops and western gowns.
Speaking about show at LFW, Dutta said, “Both Hemaji and Esha were the epitome of the essence of ‘Abor’ which means independent. I am grateful to Hemaji and Esha. I have been a huge fan of Hemaji myself and getting this opportunity to style her and share the same stage with her cannot be expressed in words”.
On the other hand, Rewati Chetri from Haflong in Assam was also seen as one of the six new faces at LFW.
