SC seeks Rafale Deal details in sealed cover

Amid all the controversies around the Rafale Deal, the Supreme Court on Wednesday has asked the Centre to provide details of the decision making process in the Rafale fighter jet deal in a sealed cover by October 29.

SC made it clear that it does not want any information about “pricing or suitability” of the jets the deal with France. “We are not issuing notice to the government. We make it clear that the court isn’t taking into account arguments made by the petitioner. Their arguments are grossly inadequate,” said a three-judge bench headed by new Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.

The apex court bench comprised of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph.

The court was hearing various petitions seeking directions, including asking the Centre to reveal details of the Rafale deal and the comparative prices during the UPA and NDA rule in a sealed cover to the apex court.
