SC to examine Guv’s order, letters of support

The Supreme Court on Sunday called for the letters related to the formation of the government in Maharashtra.

Hearing a plea of Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) against Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s decision of inviting BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis to form the government in the State, the apex court asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to place on record two letters – the letter by the Governor inviting the BJP to form the government, and the letter of support of Devendra Fadnavis, who was appointed Chief Minister of Maharashtra on November 23.

The SC also issued notice to CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, the State of Maharashtra, and the Union government of India.

The Court will then pass appropriate orders tomorrow.
