SEBA Introduces Commerce in its Syllabus


The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has introduced Commerce in its syllabus for the first time as the elective subject. The students of Class IX will now be able to take Commerce as elective subject from 2020.

Launching the new programme ‘An Introduction to Commerce’, Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharjee said that the Commerce subject will be introduced in Class X also from 2021. He said that a glimpse of Accountancy, Insurance and Banking has been given in the teaxtbook of Commerce.

A meeting was organized to discuss about the new subject and to launch the subject at Gauhati Commerce College with the Education minister, officials of SEBA and teachers.

The education department will also provide five-day training to the teachers of the government schools in the subject.
