Shutdown Notice to Guwahati’s 16 Banquet Halls

For not having Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), sixteen (16) banquet halls in Guwahati on Monday were slapped shutdown notice by the Assam Pollution Control Board.

The 16 banquet halls that received shutdown notices are- Celestial Vivaah Bhavan (Panjabari), New Brindaban Garden (Zoo Road Tiniali), Rambha Madhab Amrabati Marriage Hall (Hatigaon), Sagarika Palace (Narengi), Urba Bibah Bhawan (Lalganesh), Jon Beli Bibah Bhawan (Sasal), Green Castle Marriage Hall (Kumarpara), Jonaki Kareng Bibah Bhawan (Narikolbari), Manisha Bibah Bhawan (Hatigaon), City Den Party Hall (Bhetapara), Kalpana Bibah Bhawan (Mathgharia), Algian Palace Marriage Hall (Lastgate), Kanika Bibah Bhawan (Barowari), Town Hall and Project and Service Limited (Narengi), Haryana Charitable Trust (Kumarpara) and Riste Bibah Bhawan (Rihabari).

It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court of India and its judgment on the Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti Vs Union of India and Others on February 22, 2017, made functional ETP mandatory for the hotels, banquet halls, and the restaurants.
