Punjab minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
Sidhu updated Gandhi of the “situation” in Punjab days after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh divested him of the crucial Local Government department and gave the Power and New and Renewable Energy Sources portfolio in a cabinet reshuffle on Thursday.
Sidhu tweeted,“Met the Congress President, handed him my letter, informed him of the situation!”
He also posted a picture on twitter with RahulGandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior leader Ahmed Patel.
When the chief minister had blamed Sidhu’s “inept handling” of the local government department for the “poor performance” of the Congress in the urban areas in the Lok Sabha polls, tension between Singh and Sidhu had come out open. He also added that urban votebank was the backbone of the Congress party in Punjab but Sidhu’s failure had created a bad impact upon the party.
Sidhu was left out of eight consultative groups formed by the chief minister on Saturday to expedite implementation of the state government’s schemes after the ministry snub.
