Silapathar River Accident: SDRF finds driver’s body today

The body of Manoranjan Mahatu, the driver, who went missing in the Geluwa river car accident in Silapathar of Dhemaji district, was recovered on Saturday morning near the village of Unmara Dighali, about five kilometres from the river.

The body was found floating in the river during an operation conducted by SDRF forces from 6 a.m. onwards. During the operation, a villager spotted a dead body lying on the banks of the river and informed the SDRF forces.

The body was suspected to be attached to an old boulder net on the bank of the Geluwa River.

The body was taken to Dhemaji Civil Hospital by the Silapathar police for a post-mortem examination.

On Friday, two out of three bodies were found during a joint operation conducted by NDRF and SDRF forces at the Geluwa River in Sisiborgaon. A family of four and their driver died in the accident that occurred on July 2.
