Lakhindra Sonowal, a local journalist from Silapathar, has been battling with heart diseases and thyroid problems.
According to doctors, he is in urgent need of a heart transplant. Sonowal was detected with heart failure recently at a Guwahati based hospital. Doctors asked Sonowal to go Vellore for further treatment as there is no treatment facility in Assam for him.
"I need a huge amount of financial assistance. And it's difficult for my family to bear the burden. We will be grateful if the state government or people can help is in some way. Till now, we have not got any cash from outside.We are yet to get any response from government"– Sonowal said.
Pratidin Time's parent organization Sadin- Pratidin Group has tried to initiate a campaign and informed everyone how serious the issue was and how any contribution would go a long way towards the campaign. The group had appealed to its readers and viewers to contribute a bit for the treatment of the journalist. Dedicated journalist Sonowal is working as a Correspondent of Asomiya Pratidin from Silapathar.
