The water level of Barak and its tributaries is flowing above the danger mark. In Silchar’s Annapurna Ghat the water level is flowing at 21 cm which is more than one cm above the danger mark.

Simultaneously, the continuous rains has created artificial floods in Silchar town submerging several roads and paths and paralysing normal life.

Jeopardizing lives of common people, National Highway Road, Shillong Patty, Ambika Patty, Vivekananda Road, Bilpar, Sonai Road among other busy areas have been completely flooded.

The artificial floods are a result of having no proper water outlet facilities, which in turn block the drains in the town, alleged the locals.
