Newly appointed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of Modi's 2.0 Cabinet held her third pre-budget consultation meeting with the stakeholders from financial sector and capital markets in New Delhi on Thursday.
The pre-budgetconsultation meeting includes discussion on capital markets, financial sector,Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs)among others.
According to an official release, the meeting was attended by Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur, Finance Secretary, Expenditure Secretary, Revenue Secretary and other senior officials of Finance Ministry.
The representativesof Financial Sector and Capital Markets submitted several suggestionsconcerning the infusion of capital in the niche and regional banks with a viewto give boost to Indian markets. Suggestions have also been submitted forenhancing the role of Financial Sector Development Council, on the NBFC Sectorand need to distinguish between solvency, governance and liquidity issues.
