Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Bokakhat police station on Saturday under Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image (MOITRI) scheme to dedicate smooth service to the people of Bokakhat.
The Bokakhat police station was set up during the pre-independence period in the year 1905 and has been upgraded under the MOITRI scheme.
Inaugurating the police station, Sonowal said, “Assam Police will have to present a reformed face with Smart Thana, Smart Police and qualitative services”. He said that police stations will have to be transformed into a center of faith and credibility.
Sonowal further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for the Smart Police concept in the DGPs conference in Guwahati in 2015. Riding on the appeal of the Prime Minister, the transformation of all the police stations of the state under MOITRI has been going to execute Modi’s smart police concept.
He also reiterated that the police forces should imbibe a people-friendly and responsive approach to instill a sense of security and safety among the people at large.
The Chief Minister also said that in the age of science and technology, a cut-throat competition has been initiated and in order to survive in this competition, police forces need to empower themselves. Stating that Bokakhat Police station is an important police station that takes care of the safety and security needs of the tourists from the far-flung areas to Kaziranga, Sonowal asked the police personnel to embrace smart police concept to help the people in need.
