Sonowal Instructs Forest Dept. To Tranquilize ‘Laden’

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal instructed the forest department officials to tranquilize 'Laden' that killed three people in Goalpara district and said that the forest department should relocate the wild tusker to a safer forest.

It may be mentioned that three people- Mijanur Rahman, Jahanara Khatun, and Minati Kalita have been killed by the wild elephant on Tuesday.

Sonowal also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 4lakhs each to thefamilies of the people who have been killed yesterday.

Sharing a few images about Sonowal's meeting to discuss the man-elephant conflict in Goalpara, the CMO on its Twitter handle said: "In a meeting with DC, SP & senior officials of Goalpara, CM @sarbanandsonwal took stock of recent man-elephant conflict in the district."

"The CM directed forest dept to immediately rush a specialized team to control the situation & capture the rogue elephant if required," it added.

The CMO also tweeted: "The CM directed officials concerned torelease ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the next kin of victims byWednesday."

"He also directed them to provide adequate medical treatment tothose injured."
