SPG Cover Issue: Congress MPs Walked Out of Lok Sabha

Congress MPs staged a walkout in Lok Sabha on Tuesday to protest against the withdrawal of SPG cover for the Gandhi family and putting them under Z-Plus security.

Opposition leader and Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury served a notice in the Lok Sabha against the Centre’s move to remove the SPG from guarding the Gandhi family.

Lok Sabha continued to witness ruckus for the second straight day on Tuesday as Congress members sought to raise various issues, including the SPG cover withdrawal and also shouted slogans.

More than 20 members from the Congress and the National Conference trooped into the Well of the House during the Question Hour even as Speaker Om Birla asked them repeatedly to go back to their seats.

Moreover, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi ji are not just any protectee. It was Vajpayee ji who allowed SPG protection for the Gandhi family and from 1991 till 2019, NDA came to power twice but the SPG cover was never removed.

The Congress MPs shouted slogans after which a notice of adjournment has been issued but Adhir Ranjan raised the issue in the Zero Hour.
