Sri Lanka serial Blasts: 5 Indians among 290 killed

Five Indians have lost lives in the horrific serial blasts that had jolted Colombo on Sunday. The blasts targeted three churches, in which Easter services were going on, four luxury hotels, where hundreds of tourists were lodged and a housing complex.

According to reports, the blasts claimed lives of 290 and injured around 500 people.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expressing concern said, “Indian High Commission in Colombo has conveyed that National Hospital has informed them about the death of three Indian nationals. Their names are Lokashini, Narayan Chandrashekhar and Ramesh. We are ascertaining further details.”

However, this morning the Indian High Commission in Colombo informing the death of another two Indians tweeted, “We sadly confirm the deaths of the following two individuals in the blasts yesterday: – K G Hanumantharayappa -M Rangappa.”

As per a news agency IANS report, another woman from Kerala, PS Razeena aged 58, who had settled in Dubai, also died in the blasts.

It may be noted that no group has yet claimed responsibility for the blasts, however, the police have arrested 24 people.
