With another Bollywood star stepping into political waters, Sunny Deol has joined BJP today, who will allegedly contest from Gurdaspur in Punjab.
It may be noted that on May 19, Punjab will vote in a single phase, which is the last day of the seven-phased LS Polls.
Speaking at the event, Deol said, "I have joined BJP because I want PM Modi for the next five years".
After a meeting with BJP President Amit Shah in the past week, there were speculations of Deol joining the ruling party, however, the actor then said, "I have heard about the rumours of me joining politics. I just met him (Amit Shah) and we took a photograph, that's it,"
Formerly, Gurdaspur was the constituency of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, who died in 2017. Later, for some time, there were talks about BJP fielding his wife Kavita Khanna or son Akshaye Khanna from the particular constituency.
After Dharmendra and his wife Hema Malini, the 'Ghayal' star is the third Deol to join politics and particularly BJP.
