Bharat Ratna: Tej Hazarika Expresses Gratitude


Bhupen Hazarika’s son Tej Hazarika expressed gratitude towards Government of India for conferring Bharat Ratna to his father posthumously.

Tej Hazarika, while speaking to reporters here in Guwahati on Sunday said that he is grateful that his father has been conferred with the country’s highest civilian award by the Government of India. He also thanked the people of Assam for the tremendous support.

Bhupen Hazarika has been conferred the Bharat Ratna posthumously on August 8 by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Tej Hazarika received the award for his father.

Hazarika, who is now in the city said that he will spend some time with the family members in Assam.

Hazarika, while replying to the question whether the memento will be kept in Assam or will be taken away with him, he said that it will be kept wherever the people of Assam wants it to keep. “The memento will be kept wherever people will be comfortable to see,” said Tej Hazarika.
