In West Bengal, the ruling TMC made a clean sweep by winning Kaliagunj, Kharagpur Sadar and Karimpur assembly seats, while the BJP retained the Pithoragarh assembly seat in Uttarakhand.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee pilloried the BJP on Thursday saying it is getting paid back for its “arrogance” and for “insulting” the people of the state. She dedicated the party’s victory in the Kaliaganj assembly seat by-poll to the people of West Bengal.
“This is a victory of people. This is a victory for development. Politics of arrogance will not work. People have rejected the BJP”.
“This is the first time we are winning in Kharagpur and Kalaganj. Minorities, Adivasis, Rajbanshi – everyone has voted for us. Courtesy is the culture of Bengal,” she added.
She charged the Opposition parties in the state of colluding with the BJP and not helping their own cause.
