In one of the most pronounced security breaches ever, the twitter accounts of Joe Biden, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos were reportedly hacked on Wednesday.
These are some of the most high-profile accounts on Twitter. While Biden is Former US President and current US Presidential candidate, Musk is the CEO of the giant Tesla and SpaceX. Bezos, one the richest persons globally, is the CEO of Amazon.
Even former US President Barack Obama and Bill Gates' accounts were hacked.
The twitter accounts of all of these big shots were seen offering fake bitcoin deals. Bitcoin, as we know, is a kind of crypto currency.
All these accounts reportedly instructed people to send crypto currency to the same bitcoin address.
The tweets, however, were later removed.
A Washington Post report quoted cybersecurity expert Rachel Tobac (CEO of SocialProof Security) as saying, "This is massive. This is most likely the largest attack I've ever seen. We are extremely lucky that these attackers are monetarily motivated and not sowing mass chaos all over the world."
Although there have been similar hacks before as well, the widespread nature of this hack has shocked many, and has once again put the safety of the social media site under question.
