Amid protests in Assam and other Northeastern states, the Union Cabinet has passed the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) on Wednesday and will place the bill in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on 9 and 10 December respectively.
The Cabinet meeting was going on at New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to reports, the Union Minister is likely to introduce the contentious CAB in the Rajya Sabha on December 10. Also, the bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 9.
It may also be mentioned that the home minister had conducted a meeting with AASU, AJYCP and other organizations on Tuesday till late night and after meeting Amit Shah, the organizations made it clear that they won’t accept CAB in any circumstances.
