Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is getting closer to the magic figure of 270 Electoral College votes, despite of  Republican President Donald Trump move ahead to fight a legal battle.

Biden is falling short of six to 17 Electoral College votes, according to the projections made by various media outlets. His current votes count stood at 264.

Trump's count for the Electoral College votes stood at 214, with his chances of winning the electoral battle turning out to be bleak.

Biden on Wednesday said he is winning enough states to touch 270 electoral college votes needed to win the presidency. Biden's remarks, came after various media outlets predicted his win in the two major battleground states of Wisconsin and Michigan.

Joe Biden said, "I'm confident that we will emerge victorious. But this will not be my victory alone. It will be a victory for the American people, for our democracy, for America. And there will be no blue states and red states when we win, just the United States of America. God bless you all and may god protect our troops" adding, "It's clear that when the count is finished, we believe we will be the winners".

According to The New York Times, Biden has 253 electoral college votes as against the 214 won by Trump. Politico gave Biden 264 electoral college votes as against Trump's 214.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign has legally challenged the counting of votes in Michigan and Wisconsin in court.
