There were leakages in the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) at a few places from the roof. While heavy rains lashed the city on Monday night, rainwater entered inside the airport. Passengers who were inside the airport felt uneasy due to this unforeseen problem.
The problem occurred because of false ceilings and consequent leakage. There were small gaps in the roof and water leaked in through it. At one place, a baggage scanning machine was seen directly below a cleft of the roof.
Remarkably, few days ago, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has cleared expansion and upgradation of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport, which is estimated to cost Rs 1,232 crore. CM Sarbananda Sonowal also said that the airport is all set to get a new and enhanced integrated terminal building.
