Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday denied the identity of Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi and asked, “Who is Gaurav Gogoi?” His remarks came after a joint election rally by the AGP, BJP and Ganashakti in Bokakhat. The parties campaigned for Moni Madhab Mahanta, the younger brother of Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta and AGP candidate for Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat.
He made the interesting statement regarding Congress MP from the constituency Gaurav Gogoi saying, “I don’t know anybody named Gaurav Gogoi.” He also took jibe at former CM Tarun Gogoi and said, “Gogoi can take help of AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal, but we will wipe out Ajmal and his party from Assam politics.”
Terming the meeting to be historic, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “For the first time in Assam, the three parties of the alliance have organised an election rally. We have formed the alliance to make Narendra Modi the prime minister of India once again.”
Besides Sarma and Moni Madhab Mahanta, BJP president Ranjeet Dass, AGP president Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta, Ganashakti chief Paramananda Charingiya and other MLAs were also present during the rally.
