Hinting on a possible face-off against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the elections, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wittily remarked, “Why not Varanasi”.
The remark came as a reply to party workers requesting Priyanka to contest elections from her mother Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency, Rae Bareli.
According to news agency IANS report, the Congress leader conveyed her mother’s concern of not being able to meet party workers in Rae Bareli on Thursday, when the workers made the request. “Why not Varanasi?” she asked, smiling.
A day earlier, the party general secretary stated her willingness to contest elections if her party wished.
