A woman was killed while another person injured today on Wednesday morning as unidentified gunmen attacked them in a village in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According toofficials, militants were behind the attack. In a tweet after the incident, thestate police said, "Terrorists fired on civilians killing a girl Nigeena Banoand injuring another civilian Mohd Sultan in Pulwama. Police has registered acase. Officers are investigating circumstances of this terror crime."
However, ithas been reported that the woman's husband has also been killed by themilitants in 2017.
In the firstfive months of the year, security forces have killed 101 militants incounter-terror operations acting on intelligence inputs provided by theirinformants on the ground. In 2018 and 2017, from January till May securityforces had managed to kill 70 and 57 militants respectively.
Report saysthat most of the counter-terror operations were executed in four districts ofSouth Kashmir- Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag.
