Ace wrestler Babita Phogat officially joined BJP today in Haryana, where elections are due this year. Simultaneously, her father Mahabir Phogat also joined the party on Monday.
Addressing the media during the event, Babita said, “I am very thankful to the party for giving the love and respect. I am a big fan of Narendra Modi and he has always inspired me. I am happy to be a part of the BJP family”.
Speaking on the removal of special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the wrestler stated, “The scrapping of Article 370 has given me immense happiness. I feel that the entire nation is happy about it and everyone wants to be a part of BJP. This historic step taken by the PM will be inscribed in golden letters. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!”
Second among four sisters, Babita Kumari Phogat, is a three time Commonwealth gold and silver medalist. The 2016 chartbuster film “Dangal” starring Aamir Khan, had been inspired from these Phogat sisters.
It may be noted that Babita and her father Mahabir have always been supportive of the BJP led central government and its policies.
Father of the Phogat sisters, Mahavir is a Dhronacharya award recipient.
