Zubeen, Papon enthrall audiences in NE festival

Assam gems Zubeen Garg and Angaraag Papon Mahanta, who have acquired cult status in Assam and national level, got undivided attention of music lovers at the North East Festival on Friday night.

The annual North East Festival is back to entertain the Capital. The sixth edition of North East festival has begun from Friday at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

The duo singers started musical performance with sonorous folk song and bonded the whole tribes and communities of evergreen Assam and North East. They also made the audience groove to some of their popular hits.

With "a colourful extravaganza, greater spectacle, bringing together the magnificent North East under one forum" – the organisers of the festival hold a special seminar titled 'NRC – Untruth, Half-Truth and Truth', featuring some of the most noteworthy voices from the region, leaders from various tribes and communities to discuss on the National Register for Citizens and its significance.

Assamese new sensation singer Neel Akash, Choir from Manipur, rapper Rahul Rajkhowa, Voice of India winner Pawandeep Rajan, DJ MKSHFT, DJ Shameless Mani and many more are in the list to enthral people through their magical performances in the festival.

One of the main attractions of the North East Festival is the presentation of cuisines from the region. This year, there are more than 40 food stalls which are presenting varieties of North Eastern Food from Naga, Manipur, Assamese, Arunachali, Sikkimese, Mizo, Tripura and Meghalaya.

The festival will present three evenings of vibrant fashion – in which the most talented designers from the region such as Yana Ngoba, Barsha Aditya Singh, Rupert Lynrah, Escape Engmoiya, Sanghamitra Phukon, Bompie Riram, Jagrity Phukan, Khrielasier Liezietsu will showcase their creations with 30 of best Northeastern models.
