The North-East Indian model and one of our 2017 Cover Girl Hunt Winners, Madhulika Sharma, just made her NYFW 2020 debut.
Here are five things you need to know about her:
Madhulika Sharma born in Guwahati and completed her education from Army Public School, Narengi and later went to college in Delhi. In an interview, the Assamese beauty said that modeling happened to her by accident. “I never planned it. I had posted one of my photos on Instagram and that is how I caught the attention of various modeling agencies while studying in Delhi.
In September 2016, she did her first campaign for designer Anju Modi’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ collection. But the landmark campaign that proved to be a springboard for her career was Fabindia’s ‘Rajwada’ collection which featured her in hoardings, bus stops, banners, and magazines – giving her widespread national publicity.
In 2017, soon after Sharma won Grazia’s Cover Girl Hunt, she went on to star in a campaign for designer Ridhi Mehra. She also officially became the new face of Good Earth in the same year, following which she starred in campaigns for Raw Mango, Bodice, Tarun Tahiliani and Manish Malhotra.
Having scorched the ramp at Amazon Fashion Week for multiple designers, Sharma’s modeling career skyrocketed and she has now acclaimed international recognition. The model has previously been featured on the cover for magazines such as Conde Nast Traveller, Travel & Leisure and Cosmopolitan. She has also done fashion editorials for Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Elle and Verve among other magazines.
Apart from this, she has done beauty campaigns for Christian Dior cosmetics, Mac cosmetics, and Beauty Blender – all of which have been shot in the USA. And now, she has made her debut at the ongoing New York Fashion Week S/S 2020, having walked the ramp for Sies Marjan and Zimmermann.
