Pankaj Pratim Dutta -former vice-president of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) unit in Dergaon, who had joined the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), has reportedly surrendered before police on Sunday.
Few months ago, Pankaj uploaded a video on social media claiming to have joined the Paresh Baruah-faction of the United Liberation Front, or ULFA-Independent. He had gone missing from Golaghat district’s Dergaon in September, 2018.
Pankaj, 27, was serving as the vice-president of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) unit in Dergaon of Assam’s Golaghat district before joining the rebel group.
As per reports, Pankaj had made a phone call to his uncle Ajit Chandra Dutta on Sunday evening using the cell phone of an OC in a Police Station from Nagaland’s Mon district. He has reportedly surrendered, along with two other ULFA cadres.
