The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has filed a petition atthe Supreme Court seeking a thorough modification of the National Register ofCitizens (NRC) to pass over the errors. The final list of the NRC which waspublished on August 31 has excluded around 19 lakh people.
AASU claimed that a number of genuine Indians especially theindigenous people have been left out from the list.
"We also want a special provision to include indigenous people in the final list," said AASU.
The students' body has also slammed the Centre and state forfailing to implement the guidelines of the Supreme Court and prepare anerror-free NRC list.
