Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi expressed his dissatisfaction against the role of veteran journalist and celebrated Assamese intellectual Homen Borgohain shown during their protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Gogoi said, ”We expected a lot from Homen Borgohain when the entire state was protesting against the bill. He could have done a lot”.
Addressing a press conference on February 14 , KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said that North East was saved by the joint effort of the opposition political parties of Assam. He also said that a lot is yet to be done and the people of Assam have spotted the true enemies of the land.
The peasant leader thanked the Bengali Organisations of Assam who opposed the controversial Bill. The representatives of 70 organizations thanked Xudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s son Tej Hazarika for his stand Against the Controversial Bill.
Akhil Gogoi also said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are the prime enemies of the state and the lapse of CAB in Rajya Sabha wouldn’t have been possible if the 70 indigenous organizations would not have come together.
The entire North East celebrated the victory on February 13th after the contentious Citizenship was not passed at the last sitting of the Rajya Sabha.
