10 die as Assam flood situation remains grim

Atleast ten people have lost their lives due to the floods in Assam so far.According to government sources, three people have lost their lives in Golaghatdistrict, whereas two people died in Dhemaji, two in Jorhar and one each inBarpeta, Kamrup (M) and Dima Hasao district.

On the other hand, at least 14,17,411 people in 2,217 villages under 25 districts of Assam are currently affected by the flood. The flood-affected districts are: Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Goalpara, Kamrup, Morigaon, Hojai, Nagaon, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, West Karbi Anglong, and Dhubri.

Meanwhile,all the major rivers of the State are in spate.
