108, 102 still shut today

Pratidin Bureau

108, 102 emergency services had been on strike and complete shutdown for more than five days in the past week. The employees staged a protest against GVK EMRI, the governing body of the emergency services, demanding proper pay and employee's rights.

At last, on Tuesday the employees withdrew the strike with assurance of starting the services from Wednesday. The decision came after Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the employees to end the strike and hold talks to come to a conclusion.

However, now, the GVK EMRI authorities are seen being obstinate towards the employees, as even after the withdrawal of the strike, the organisation is not operating the emergency services.

With the call centres shut, 108-102 services are unable to operate. The Hyderabad based company is allegedly operating according to its whims.

When inquired about the turn of events, the operators of the company have reportedly put forth the excuse of having no information or direction from Hyderabad.

Whatever, the case might be, the truth remains that 108, 102 emergency services are still not operating today, which earlier was seen to have cause a lot of inconvenience to the public.
