Pratidin Bureau

150 confirmed dead and many more on way, as country's worst hooch tragedy, forced Assam Government to explore the possibility of a conspiracy.

Till the filing of this report, 150 people are dead but the death toll is changing like the score a T-20 match as the authorities are terrified with the sudden escalation of the death toll.

It was 51 till Friday night and by midnight of Saturday it was 142 and now this morning it is 150 confirmed dead. Out of which in Golaghat 97 confirmed dead and in Jorhat 53 dead.

Another 221 are struggling for life in Golaghat and Jorhat Hospitals as the authorities have reinforced the doctor's strength from neighbouring districts and returned non-emergency patients to focus on the huge emergency.

The police have destroyed 15000 litres of liquor but the Assam excise officials have admitted that they are in tremendous pressure to raise their revenue.

The BJP government in the past 30 months has collected over Rs 3000 crores as revenue in comparison to Rs 4100 crores by the previous Congress government in 15 years.
