Accidental shot kills forest guard

In an unfortunate incident a forest guard was accidental  shot dead by his colleague in Teok's Jajimukh on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the forest guards tried to fire  rounds to scare away the wild elephants that came out of the jungle. Unfortunately a bullet hit by a forest guard hit another forest guard named Hemant Tamuli. Tamuli died instantly at the spot.

According to reports the forests guards were provided outdated weaponries. The guards blank fired a few rounds and their guns got jammed. While repairing the gun a bullet got fired that claimed the life of Hemanta Tamuli.

Similar incident occurred in West Bengal earlier this year when a casual employee with the Bengal forest department was accidentally shot dead by a security guard while they were trying to escape a wild elephant at the Jaldapara National Park in Alipurduar district.
