APSC scam: Atul Bora questions Gurujyoti Das’ involvement

Dispur MLA Atul Bora onFriday questioned Mangaldoi MLA Gurujyoti Das' involvement in the Assam PublicService Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam. The senior MLA said that therewere allegations that five members of MLA Gurujyoti Das made it to theselection list of APSC when Rakesh Paul was the chairman of the commission, buthe was yet to be brought to the purview of investigation.

It may be mentioned herethat five members of MLA Das' family reportedly secured appointment "bymanipulating" the examination conducted by the APSC. Das' wife Leena Das,sisters-in-law Nirmali Das and Shikha Rani Das and brothers-in-law Bhargav MoniDas and Monideep Das are Assam Government's gazetted officers.

Earlier, veteran Assam BJP leader and former Mangaldoi MP Ramen Deka had also urged Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to take stern action against the BJP MLA whose five relatives are APSC officers now.

On the other hand, speaking about the coal-syndicate in the State, the Dispur MLA said that it has been running since long and he had voiced against it in the Assam assembly. "I have not seen any changes in the coal-syndicate that has been going on in the State," said Bora. However, he maintained that he could not answer if the Chief Minister's Office is involved in the syndicate.
