Arya Vidyapeeth College celebrates Diamond jubilee

Arya Vidyapeeth College, one of Guwahati's oldest and premier educational institutions of not only Assam but of the entire Northeast region, concluded its Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Sunday.

The college, established in 1958, celebrated the special occasion with a three-day cultural programme that included a number of other activities and competitions throughout these 3 days.

On the final day, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the celebrations in the college premises along with Education Minister Siddartha Bhattacharjee, All Assam Students Union (AASU) adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya, Minister of State for Health Pijush Hazarika and few other dignitaries.

On the occasion, CM Sonowal presented the Pandit Giridhar Sarma Award 2018 to renowned scientist Jitendra Nath Goswami, who was an integral part of the Chandrayaan I & II.

CM Sonowal paid tribute to the founder of the College, Pandit Giridhar Sarma and appreciated all the teachers whose efforts have turned this college into a great knowledge tree.

He also announced a package of Rs 4 crore for all round development of the college.
