Assam: CPI (M) Stages Statewide Protest

The Communist Party of India (M), Assam has staged a state-wide protest demanding to provide an adequate quantity of essential commodities to the people in the containment zone areas.

The CPI (M) observed the protest at Guwahati Club holding various demands. They demanded that the government should provide essential commodities and other commodities to the people living in the containment zone areas. They also demanded that the government should provide 10 kgs of rice along with other essential commodities to the people who are outside the income tax coverage for up to six months.

The families which should not pay tax should be provided with Rs. 7500each month for three months.

The CPI also demanded that the decision of increasing the working hoursof labour up to 12 hours in the name of Labour Law reform should be withdrawn.
