Assam Floods: Over 39 lakh affected, 80 lives lost

In a recent update, a total of 39, 79, 563 people in Assam as of date have been affected by the deluged, stated the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

Five people have lost their lives on Thursday and 71 have died so far according to the ASDMA data on flood situation. However, according to a report by ANI stated Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal visits flood affected areas of Kaziranga National Park saying, "The staff of the national park are committed towards the safety of the animals here. So far, more than 80 people have lost their lives due to flood, erosion and landslides in the state".

27 districts have been severely affected especially districts of Dhubri, Barpeta, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur. A total of 3218 villages have inundated.

Close to 50,000 people are sheltered across 303 relief camps.
