Bad weather stops Kiren from voting

BJP west Arunachal candidate Kiren Rijiju could not cast his vote as his helicopter couldn't land because of bad weather. Details are awaited.

Rijiju, who is the sitting MP from Arunachal West is facing a tough fight this time. 47-year-old Rijiju is going up against National People Party's Khyoda Apik, Congress candidate Nabam Tuki, and Jarjum Ete of the JD(S).

Some of the other candidates include People's Party of Arunachal Pradesh candidate Subu Kechi, Jomin Nyokir from the All India Forward Bloc and Independent candidate Rumak Jomoh.

Jarjum Ete is the first woman candidate fielded by any party for a Lok Sabha seat in Arunachal Pradesh. A report by The Hindu suggests that Ete has gained popularity among the locals, especially women, due to her campaigns against child marriage and polygamy.
