CAB to be introduced in LS on Dec 9

The Citizenship AmendmentBill (CAB) will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 9 and will be takenup for passage the next day. The bill has been included in the list of businessfor Monday. Reportedly, the bill will be introduced by Union Law Minister RaviShankar Prasad will table the bill in the Lok Sabha.

The CAB, which seeks togrant citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh andAfghanistan if they faced religious persecution there, will be tabled in theRajya Sabha after being dealt with by the Lower House of Parliament.

The bill will be passed in the Lok Sabha as BJP has a massive majority in the lower house. Meanwhile, the Union government is also confident of its passage in the Rajya Sabha with the support of several non-aligned regional parties.
