With theEid-al-Adha round the corner, cattle smuggling in Assam is a continued processin the state and Dhubri police has arrested the most wanted cattle smugglerJahangir Alam who was absconding since days.

This is thesecond successful attempt of Dhubri police after they have arrested anothercattle smuggler who had brought cattle in large numbers from a cow-shed in WestBengal. Jahangir Alam was absconding since few days but a team of Dhubri policeunder the leadership of Dhubri SP Trinayan Bhuyan in a joint operation within-charge of Golakganj police station Nabajit Kumar Baruah and Gauripur policestation Satyajit Borthakur have successfully arrested Jahangir.

A case has beenregistered under 876/19 in Gauripur police station and police have startedinvestigating on the cattle syndicate issue.

On the otherhand, Bangladesh thieves have stolen Assam farmer's cows through theIndo-Bangladesh border. Four cows of Phani Rai and Jogen Barman of Bihkhua inGolakganj at Ind0-Bangla border have been stolen by the Bangladesh thieves. Thefarmers have witnessed their cows on the other side of the border at Sonahat inthe Indo-Bangla border. The locals then informed the Border Security Forceafter which they rescued the cows in an injured manner from the incident site.

However, Section144 has been imposed in the border areas from 7 PM to 5 AM.

Meanwhile, theillegal cattle smuggling is taking place in the Indo-Bangla border in thepresence of the administration. The cattle smugglers are running the illegalsmuggling business by ignoring the administrations instruction in the Gandhaiarea, 3kms from the border areas.

It may bementioned that the Supreme Court has also issued an order saying that thereshould not be any market of cattle in the radius of 20 kms in the border areasbut it has been seen that the court's instruction has been neglected by thesellers and they are selling cows in the market within the radius of 20km.
