Contractual Employees of P&RD Demands Regularization of Jobs

The contractual workers union of Panchayat and Rural Development, Assam has staged protest by taking a break from their work for five days demanding regularization of jobs throughout the state.

The contractual workers have staged protests across the state and demanded regularization of jobs and to give salaries in the pay scale of regular jobs. They also demanded all facilities to the workers which the government is providing to the regular employees.

It may be mentioned that 8620 employees were appointed in the department on a contractual basis in 2008. These employees are working in the department without any security of their job and therefore, they have protested throughout the state by taking a break in their service.

However, the protests have hampered the normal work in the department in every district including Morigaon, Jorhat, Bongaigaon.
