COVID-19: Assam’s recovery tally crosses 24,000 mark

Assam recorded 985 recoveries by Sunday evening taking the overall tally of cured cases in the state to 24040.

As the state confirmed 1142 new COVID cases yesterday, the active cases have climbed to 8106. Guwahati continues to report the highest number of COVID cases with 171 in a single day, followed by Kamrup with 188 and Darrang with 100.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "A total of 20542 tests were done in the last 24 hours. This means the state has a positivity rate of 5.5%," and thanked the doctors, "A large number of patients going back home every day is an outcome of great efforts being put by our doctors. Gratitude!"

Presently, the total positive cases registered so far in the state are 32228. The state also confirmed two more deaths due to COVID taking the death toll to 79.
