Dengue strikes Assam

Assamhas been reeling under the threat of dengue as more than fifty people have beenaffected by the mosquito-borne viral infection. According to sources in theAssam Health department, the largest number of cases related to dengue has beenreported in Guwahati city.

"Guwahati is followed by Cachar, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Morigaon and Nagaon districts in terms of the number of positive dengue cases," Health department sources revealed.

Itmay be mentioned here that as Assam is currently reeling under the floods andit can lead to outbreaks of several diseases including dengue fever.

However, the health department has urged people to seek immediate medical attention if they suffer from high fever, uncontrolled vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness and reduced urinary.
