“Donation” clash led to Sibsagar bandh

Pratidin Bureau

The demand for forceful donation  have led to Sibsagar district bandh today as police cracked whip on two of the "Jatiya Sangthan" and promptly arrested two of them triggering a 12 hour Sibsagar district bandh this morning.

It all began when some radical youths demanded donation from a trader who refused to give. The youth alleged that the traders insulted them and "Assamese as a race" and  the business establishment was vandalised.

But the incident did not stop there. The youths belonging to AAMSU and Bir Lachit Sena forced an apology from the trader inside  the Sibsagar police station yesterday and  got it recorded and made it viral through the social media.

When the SP Amitabha Sinha got to know about the incident happening inside police station, he identified three main culprits  Sringkhal Chaliha and Chitu Barua of Bir Lachit Sena and Yunus Tamuli of AAMSU and arrested them for extracting forceful apology.

This further angered these two organizations who called for  Sibsagar district bandh from this morning.
