Doyen of Bodo nationalism Charan Narzary dead

Doyen of Bodo nationalism, former MP, MLA and founder General Secretary of the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA) Chanran Narzary died early this morning in an old age-related ailments,.

He was 87 when he breathed his last at Down Town Hospital.  Narzary fell down at his Mwiderkhoro residencein Kokrajhar recently and was hospitalized.

Narzary who led the 'Udayachal' movement for the tribalpeople under PTCA in the early seventies served many years as MLA and MP.

 He was also theprofessor of Kokrajhar College before joining politics. He is also a notedwriter and poet. Entire tribal communities of the State came together for thecause of tribal people in their leadership but the political scenariocompletely changed after the ABSU started a mass movement for separate State.

The president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) Taren Boro andhis vice president Kamala Kanta Mashahary condoled the death of this great Bodoleader.
