Erosion Wreaks Havoc in Burhachapori

Erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River has turnedserious in Burhachapori area near Samaguri over the past few days. According toreports, the erosion has assumed serious proportions of land.

This has led to terror and panic among the locals who have complained that despite knowing the situation no action has been taken by the government authorities regarding the erosion-hit area.

It may be mentioned here that more than 100 familieswere displaced due to soil erosion in the area. "The massive erosion by theBrahmaputra River has swallowed major portions of many villages in unBurhachapori area," said a local.

Locals have demanded for some permanent erosionprevention measures by the Water Resource Department.
