Fake SI nabbed in city

Impersonating a Sub-inspector (SI), a fraud was arrested for allegedly duping a woman on the pretext of providing her a government job in the city, police said on Friday. He took Rs 56000/- assuring her a job.

The accused has been identified as Dharmeswar Roy, alias Jitu. He posed as a police sub-inspector and claimed he has various contacts in government departments that could help aspirants land the right job. He introduced himself as SI Geetanagar police station.

A case has been registered against the accused and a thorough investigation in the matter is underway. According to police, Jitu has also procured one police uniform (Two-star) along with a nameplate, which reads D. Roy and other incriminating materials pertaining to the police department.
