Fire at GMCH completely doused

At least 50 new born babies were saved after the fire that broke out at ICU at the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) was doused using fire extinguishers in the evening.

According to report, the fire is believed to have started from a machine called the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) in the ventilation unit at the inborn cell. All babies along with their attendants and other staff members are safe with officials shifting the new born babies from the cell where the blaze started.

Meanwhile, Assam MoS for health Pijush Hazarika visited GMCH after the incident to take stalk of the situation.
