Come July 1, one can reach Dhakafrom Guwahati in just 5 minutes with a ticket price lesser than that of aGuwahati Delhi Flight.

As the ticket portals have opened for booking a round fare between Guwahati-Dhaka is Rs 7971 which is actually cheaper than a festival season Guwahati-Delhi flight.

The flight to be operated bySpice jet shall be formally inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal tomorrow at Guwahati.

The daily flight will leaveGuwahati 1135 and reach 1320 and leave Dhaka at 1410 and reach Guwahati at1435. Here one must take into consideration the time difference 30 minutesbetween Guwahati and Dhaka as Bangladesh time is half an hour ahead of IndianTime.

This is the first flight underthe IACS scheme, also referred to as International Udan. The promotional pricefor a one-way trip between Guwahati and Dhaka will cost Rs 3,355.

SpiceJet was selected in Januaryto operate flights to Dhaka and Bangkok under the Assam government's initiativeto boost international connectivity.

The state government is providingan annual viability gap funding of Rs 11 crore for the two routes.

Initially, Assam had proposed toconnect Guwahati with six overseas destinations — Dhaka, Bangkok, KualaLumpur, Singapore, Yangon, and Kathmandu, but it received valid bids for onlytwo routes.

A civil aviation ministry officialsaid bids for more routes would be considered after an assessment of how thetwo routes pan out.
